How does Recruitment work?

In order to be considered for membership into the fraternity, you should attend as many Recruitment Week events as you can. The purpose of Recruitment Week is to give the fraternity a chance to get to know you and to give you the chance to get to know the fraternity.

Is there a required or preferred major for membership in Kappa Alpha Pi?

No! There is no required or preferred major to be considered for membership in Kappa Alpha Pi. Our members have a wide range of majors, including but not limited to: Political Science, Sociology, Business Economics, Applied Mathematics, and Pharmacological Chemistry.

What does Recruitment Week look like?

Recruitment Week will be held during Week 2 (of the Fall and Spring quarters), with events happening all week except Friday. Monday-Wednesday’s events will be open to all UCSD undergraduate students. Thursday and Saturday will be invite-only.

What if I can not make a scheduled Recruitment Week event (or will come late)?

If for any reason, you are unable to attend a Recruitment Week event or will be late to an event, please send our Recruitment Directors, Ben and Justin, an email at ucsdkapi.rc@gmail.com as soon as possible (but before the event) to inform them of your absence/tardy.

Is there a dress code for Recruitment Week?

Yes, there will be a dress code for two days of Recruitment Week. LSAT Night (Tuesday) and Interviews (Saturday) will require business professional attire. However, if you do not have business professional attire, simply inform Ben and Justin by sending them an email at ucsdkapi.rc@gmail.com, and you will be excused from this requirement. The rest of the events are casual attire.

Is there a GPA requirement to be considered for membership into the fraternity?

Yes, the minimum GPA to be considered for membership into the fraternity is 2.5.

Does Kappa Alpha Pi haze?

No. Both UCSD and Kappa Alpha Pi do not condone any form of hazing and discrimination. Our guiding principles foster an inclusive and safe environment for all of its members. Per Article III, Section B of our chapter’s constitution, “Recruits shall not be subject to any form of hazing.”

What is the financial cost of membership into the fraternity?

As per most fraternities on campus, there is a financial cost for membership into the fraternity. They vary quarter-to-quarter, but there is no fee to rush or to accept the invitation for the Leadership Program. Additionally, they are significantly less than IFC/Panhellenic dues. We do not want membership in Kappa Alpha Pi to be a financial burden to any of our members, hence we are extremely understanding of all of our members’ financial situations.
